I really really really love this list. For a 1500 point game, it gives me all the tools I need. I actually may go with some Nikephoros (Bringer of Victory Blog Writer, check my blog list) statistics on it. Pretty Rad.

Some new games!

These past couple weeks have been PACKED with work and preparing to go back to school. Of course, I made some time for gaming!

A buddy of mine and I played a game of Heroclix. I bought some of the figures a while ago, and it is a fun system. It was bought up by a new company and is still in full swing. It's a very simple game, but it is very fast and entertaining.

I also picked up a WoW TCG deck from a friend of mine who had an extra starter deck. Imagine Magic: The Gathering, with Warcraft themes and more simple rules and deck building. The Raid Decks are fun as hell to fight.

Throwing in some nostalgia, another friend has been bothering me to get the Pokemon TCG. Now, like every kid of my generation, I had a ton of Pokemon cards. I sold them a while ago though, actually netting about 50 bucks. Well, the 5th generation of Pokemon has come out, and I am so totally lost. Luckily I found a new "1st gen" starter deck, I actually might pick up. I'm a sucker for new games.

Not to mention, the first semester of the Frostburg Gamers club! I have some big hopes for the club, and I think we can make some great events.

The whole army moves to midfield and controls the board with shooting. The MotF and a combat squad with the Missile Launcher sit in the back, hopefully in a ruin, protecting home base and being the "spotters." Librarian moves in the Rhino with the Meltagun combat squad, throwing Null Zone around. Everything else: Shoot.

I have done it!

So, as some may notice, I have been in a posting frenzy. The writing bug has bitten :P

I have been mentally slaving over each of the Power Armor codexes (that I own at least. BT, GK and DA may come soon as well :P ) to create a 2,000 point list for each. The idea is to use the themes and strengths of each codex to create a different style of list with each. Hopefully, they will each be different and competitive in their own right.

For each codex, the themes are simple:
Space Marines: Mechanized. Lots of gunboats with some solid scoring units. Tons of variety in shooting. Assault Capabilities are limited, but Combat Tactics will win the day :P
Blood Angels: Foot. FNP, Heavy Weapons, and possibly Mephiston to win the day.
Space Wolves: Rhino Rush with possible TWC.
Grey Knights: Paladins. Enough said.
Dark Angels: Ravenwing. I don't need another Terminator spam list :P
Black Templar: Black Tide. Cause it would be awesome.

Of course, these are long terms goals for my Power Armor collections. Awesome goals however. :)

Dreamwizards 1500 Tournament Game 3

The last game. The completion of a good day of gaming. My opponent was an Imperial Guard player named Reid. The objective: Kill points. Oh baby.

His list was filled with stuff. As I remember..

Command Squad with Lascannon
Platoon Blob of some sort filled with melta and power weapons
Alraheim and platoon
Rough Riders
Chimeras with melta vets
2 Sentinals with Autocannons
2 Leman Russes

I'm not great at remembering guard breakdown... too much stuff :P

The game was... very one sided. I tabled him at the bottom of the 6th, only because the Sentinals were in CC with one of my scouts. I moved into midfield and just got into close combat with everything. It was a very decisive victory.

However, Reid won best painted army! It looked fantastic on the table, and he had some well developed background. He also got a Tomahawk plaque. WTFAWESOMEBBQSAUCE.

So, overall, a good experience. While I would liked to have placed higher, I am satisfied with my record. The next tournament shall be better I'm sure.

Dreamwizards 1500 Tournament Game 2

I have found that the game after a defeat is always a little humbling. It makes you rethink your strategy and reconsider your moves. My opponent, Greg, had a similar experience, and we both agreed to just have some fun with it.

His list: Blood Angels

Mephiston
Furioso Dreadnought with Blood Talons
Sanguinary Priest
5 Assault Marines with meltagun, infernus pistol in a Drop Pod
10 Tactical Marines with Lascannon, Flamer
10 Tactical Marines with Lascannon, Flamer
3 5 Devastators with 4 Missiles with Rhinos

I ran the same Wolves list of course.

It was a very close game. The objectives were placed at the beginning of our first turn and then scattered as a normal scatter would. It became a huge cluster of objectives in the center. All of our troops moved into the center, and the entire battle was fought there. Both of our dice just didn't want to work. It was ridiculous. Mephiston periled on a test, which killed him; my Wolf Priest triple oned on a DC test, and it was just terrible dice.

In the end we tied on objectives, but I had maybe 300 victory points on him and earned one more battle point, thanks to a lone Wolf Scout squad. Very close game, but it was a good relaxing game.
